Remembering Fall

Tracy / September 6, 2006

Good Morning! I hope that you are having a wonderful day and off to a good start!

This morning, I was hanging laundry (this is Joshua’s solar system mini quilt drying) and I’m not sure if it’s the “fall” air beginning to blow in, but I had an instant memory of being outside of my high school, at the age of 15 with Paul (my honey). I love the cooler temperatures if for no other reason than that it reminds me of those mornings spent talking and getting to know that, then 17 year old boy who quickly became the love of my life.

I’m so thankful to have known him for so much of my life and that God was so good to have placed this young man in my life. Wow, time goes by so quickly…..those two young people now have a life and children together.

It’s a reminder that as quickly as Fall blows in, it will blow away. Another season of life will be gone.

What will you have done?

Will you have invested these moments where they mattered with your husband and children and family?

Or, will you have given these precious moments away to places where 100 years from now, no one will remember?

If I could tell you just how many years I’ve wasted in this way, if I could just reclaim some of that time…where would I choose to spend it?

I think I would linger just a little longer with a soapy baby in a bathtub full of bubbles, or maybe make an effort to listen a little more carefully to a 90 year old sharing the details of her childhood. I think that I wouldn’t be in such a hurry when my husband asks me for a dance on a quiet evening in the middle of our living room.

Certainly, the best time spent would be in Scripture…there are so many things that I would know now if I had spent more time on the “foundation” of my life.

Take the time, with me, to evaluate everything you love to spend time on in your life.

Though some days it seems you have “all the time in the world”, in reality, every moment is passing quickly. Where will you wish you would have spent more time?

Prayer Requests

The Greenlaws seem to be feeling much better but are still in the recovery process. Please continue to keep them in your prayers.

My Mom has done “something” to her back and is feeling some pain and soreness. Please pray for her…this is her vacation week and she had plans to finish some projects that she has been working on.

Paul is making headway once again on finding investors. I’ve stopped waiting on this to happen…I’m thinking the Lord has a time line all His own on this one…. but please do pray for the process.

Today I’m Thankful For

We’re making quite a bit of progress on all our projects. We keep reminding ourselves we are laying the foundation for things that we may not even see in our lifetime. These things are so much bigger than we are….I’m thankful for the vision.

Courtney surprised me with the news of 2 more watermelons! I’m sure many of you are tired of hearing about my garden but for someone who has not done this on this scale before, we are constantly surprised and excited about the food that we are getting from these small areas that we planted.

Likewise, I just pulled 2 eggplants last week and there are already 2 more! We are so excited! This was one of the plants I didn’t think would do very well and I’m glad to say they seem to be doing better than I originally thought!

The cool weather that is moving in.

Two little boys (the Dynamic Duo, no less) that are so sweet and bring us so much joy with their antics.

Tracy’s Tasks

Today, right in line with our holiday planning, take the time to think about special things you would like to do with your children to make the holidays extra special.

For us, it means taking extra time to spend with our children doing things like drinking hot cocoa, taking them for an annual carousel ride or baking and decorating sugar cookies as a family.

If you are really ambitious, go ahead and add these dates to your calendar. This will keep your schedule from filling up before you can add the events that really matter!

Today’s Scripture Meditation

Col 1:9-20
“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.”
(NIV)

That you may have a fruitful, wonderful day,
