Only 84 Degrees?

Tracy / September 2, 2006

Hurray! I just heard on the news that the high today is only 84 degrees! Yahoo! Fall is coming. I knew that there had to be an end to all this hot weather some where!

It’s been a busy and really fun Labor Day weekend. We stayed home but enjoyed some much needed “down time” as a family. Paul especially, (snicker, snicker!) since many of you who know us, know that one of our favorite things is going to push Daddy from the bed first thing in the morning. (He loves it!;) )

This morning finds me in front of the computer with the smell of eggs and toast cooking in the next room. Yum! I’m so glad that Courtney and Joshua have learned to cook. It makes life so much easier.

I’ve just returned from hanging 3 loads of laundry out. It’s hard to miss that now we have a second watermelon in the garden! Yippee! We are so excited. We are hoping that we can hang on to these two. One of my goals for the summer was to try to make watermelon rind preserves. (If someone has a recipe that they would like to share…..hint, hint).

(This is watermelon #1)

We finished several web projects this weekend that we will be introducing throughout the week…one of which is my very first pod cast! I was thrilled to have finished the first one…a microphone can be very intimidating! “Making Your Child Feel Special” is near and dear to my heart after my children having heard many comments over the last few weeks from parents who were so glad to be getting their own children back in school and out of their way. (I know this is not the case with everyone, but sadly, it is with many moms….I’m sure each of you know someone who fits this description.) It’s hard to explain to my own children why these parents make the comments they do about their own children. We live in a world where selfishness is tolerated and even encouraged. What kind of world would we live in if each parent took their responsibility seriously and nurtured their children? There are so many years– once they are grown and gone, that they could take the time out for other things, if they wanted.

In any case, “Making Your Child Feel Special” is now in the media and more section at the bottom of the page.

Here are updated pictures from the garden.

Some items we are trying to work on this week.

The Greenlaw’s have had a cold all weekend.

We are working on all the legal loose ends for our television network this week.

Today I’m Thankful For

The young man that I mentioned last week who had a heart valve replaced did very well and came through his surgery just fine.

My second watermelon.

Staying up to date (so far…every year I end up getting behind) on my holiday grand plans!

My Grandmother is doing very well with my uncle.

The work I’m getting done in Matthew’s latest scrapbook this week.

Tracy’s Task

Today, we’re starting question/living room on www.HolidayGrandPlan.com. My living room needs lots of work but right now, I’m bound to what I can budget for so I’m going to focus on decluttering and perhaps some little decorating projects.

I do still have some lingering purchases for the deck…mums would be very nice for the fall.

I’ve also filled out my Christmas card list. I do still need to enter it into the computer and print my address labels.

So far, I’m really pleased with the planning. It feels good to know that I won’t be pushed at the last minute to complete these tasks.

What can you be doing now to prepare for the holidays?

What I’m Learning

Last week (I think) I mentioned in a post that I was really disgusted by the news media coverage of the Jon Bonet Ramsey case. I thought that these types of things should never be mentioned, especially in the “matter of fact” way that the news reporters continued to spread the word.

Yesterday, during my Bible study I came across the following passage of scripture:

Today’s Scripture Meditation

Eph 5:11-12
“Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret.
(NIV)

If you’ve not read through Ephesians lately…that would be a great place to read. What an awesome book full of wisdom and instruction.

To Him be the glory,
