Littlest Gardener

Little Emma loves to be outside. Her big blue eyes seem to wander endlessly taking in every detail of her surroundings. She doesn’t take anything for granted.

Now, if only we could keep her from trying to put the mulch in her mouth… 🙂

Yesterday, I finished half of my Mom’s birthday gift. This project is taking me a little longer than I originally thought it would. I hope it is something that she will enjoy.

We did have a good day yesterday. Courtney worked on one of our websites for a couple of hours, as did Joshua…as well as working for a little while on his web programming web site.

Jacob spent a few hours making his own water condenser…where do they come up with this stuff? I feel like I’m living a home school mom’s dream. It’s a very simple equation….I give them books to read and their imaginations take over and lead them down paths that would have never even crossed my mind. In this case, like so many others, the best lesson came not from a well thought out lesson plan, or a boxed curriculum….it came solely from feeding his curiosity.

Prayer Requests

The Greenlaw’s have a few Dr. appointments this week. Please pray that all is well.

Our weekend is very quickly filling up! Please pray that we would be well rested tonight to prepare for the upcoming weekend.

Today, I’m Thankful For

Taking some great pictures of my children this morning outside.

Talking to Christy for a few minutes this morning! 🙂

My children who pitch in to work just as hard as I do!

The coming weekend.

The (though slight) possibility of rain in the forecast.

Tracy’s Task

Today is fasting day. A little while back I decided to fast one day a week (not necessarily for spiritual reasons). After much study, the one thing that all health “experts” agree on is that fasting a day a week is very healthy for your body. Because I’m nursing, I am having a light meal or a fruit smoothie for dinner on Thursdays.

I’ve seen several benefits….I sleep *VERY* well on Thursday nights. I feel *SO MUCH* better on Friday. The digestive problems that I have from time to time are non-existent through the weekend after having fasted even just this one day a week.

So, my task today is fasting.

The added benefit is very spiritual. As I get hungry, I just say a little prayer and ask the Lord to make me strong…and He does. He is so good to help me get through these days.

This is something that I hope becomes a life long habit for me (unless we find ourselves with another little on the way…pregnant women SHOULD NOT fast).

What I’m Learning

I don’t think that you can ever have too many books. You do, however, have to be careful that they are really good books.

We have a house full of books. I find various children reading them at various times. Sometimes I wonder if they get bored reading the same books over and over but one copy of Little House In The Big Woods, or The Way Things Work tends to just go on and on.

I’m learning that the things that don’t require batteries make the best entertainment for children…..

Today’s Scripture Meditation

1 Tim 4:7-13
“Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance (and for this we labor and strive), that we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, and especially of those who believe. Command and teach these things. Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching.”
