Blooming Roses!

The Roses are in bloom at my home. This is the biggest reason that I love the Spring (I actually prefer fall and winter to the warmer months!). Joshua brought this one in to me as a surprise yesterday…it smells wonderful!!

I came across a funny for today that I received off of one of the sites that I belong to, I thought you might enjoy:

A mother was telling her little girl what her own childhood was like: “We used to skate outside on a pond. I had a swing made from a tire; it hung from a tree in our front yard. We rode our pony. We picked wild raspberries in the woods.” The little girl was wide- eyed, taking this in. At last she said, “I sure wish I’d gotten to know you sooner!”

I’m trying to make sure that I make time to remember the fun things…it is these things that the children will remember through their lives!

Prayer Requests

I’m apparently still battling a little “bug”. I think that it’s lingering because I have been pushing myself so much lately. Today, my plan is to take it a little easier…we’ll see!

Emma is having a hard time with her little gums. I think we’ll be better once the next two top teeth are in.

The Shepherd family is on my mind this morning…no particular reason. Please pray that mom, Ruthanne, would have a great day!

Please pray that we can overcome a couple of financial obstacles this week.

Today, I’m Thankful For

The article that is in the local newspaper about us today. It’s just a paragraph, but it’s still good to be getting a little exposure.

Some great family time last night.

The things that I’ve gotten done this morning.

The break from most of the normal activities that our family is involved in (it’s just a week, but it sure is nice to not have to be anywhere!).

My husband getting to catch up on some much needed rest this week.

Tracy’s Task

Once you’ve created your master list, you need to start keeping an eye out for possible gifts to stock your gift closet. Holiday clearance sales are a great place to look for inexpensive gift items. This is of course, the best time to stock up on gift wrap and bags, tape, cards, bows and tags too. My favorite after holiday find are candles!

Don’t forget to check clearance isles, change of season sales in department stores, and dollar stores! You never know what you might find!

Some suggested items for a gift closet might include: Candles, craft kits or supplies, pens, art supplies, seasonal items to include: mugs, cookie plates, scarves, hats, seeds, ornaments, towel sets, stationery, journal, books, frames, office and school supplies, clearance baby items, cd’s, dvd’s, games, toys, bath supplies, baskets, and baking supplies.

What I’m Learning

I made homemade tortillas last night! The were so much better than the store bought ones. My only problem is that they didn’t stay together as well as the regular tortillas we use but everyone agreed they definitely tasted better. I found my recipe at http://www.allrecipes.com . If you’ve never visited this website…it is a ‘must see’ for anyone who cooks!

This morning I was thinking about how I want the Lord to change me and shape me in His will. I have such a desire to see Him in every part of what I do and who I am.

This is a poem that I thought I would share this morning:

Dear Lord change not Thy will in my life,
Or trial and sorrows to be;
Renew my faith and make me strong,
Change not Thy will, change me.

Though teardrops fall when trouble comes,
Like storms on a rolling sea;
Let Thy beacon guide my ship to port,
Change not the storm, change me.

When Thy Holy Word I don’t understand
And Thy glory I cannot see;
Teach my eyes, give me sight and wisdom,
Change not Thy Word, change me.

If the fruit Thou hast given me to eat,
Taste bitter and sour, I plea;
Let not my will but Thine be done,
Change not the fruit, change me.

If sometime I murmur and grumble, dear Lord,
About the cross I carry for Thee;
Keep it firm on my shoulders, but hold my hand,
Change not the cross, change me.

If You change Thy ways to please me, dear Lord,
I would soon grow cold and turn from Thee;
That You may hear my prayers, dear Lord,
Change not Thy ways, change me.

There’s a valley that I must cross,
Someday Thy face to see;
Lest I forget what power is Thine,
Change not the valley, change me.

Today’s Scripture Meditation

Ps 51:1-10
“Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you are proved right when you speak and justified when you judge. Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me. Surely you desire truth in the inner parts; you teach me wisdom in the inmost place. Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice. Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”
