Whew! What a week we’ve had!
It seems like the last several days have been a whirlwind of activity, I can’t wait to see what this week brings.
Mother’s Day was wonderful in my home. My children know that I watch the news every morning while breakfast is being made and went to great length to record the most perfect news cast starring all of my favorite news people….them! It was even complete with homemade commercials. Joshua did all of the editing and even composed the background music for the feature. I am so impressed! Blown away is more like it! They spent a lot of time and effort on this project…I am very blessed indeed!
Pictured today is one of the Mother’s Day gifts that I gave to my Mom. This is a rice sock…she loved the first one that we gave her. You can pop these into the microwave for a couple of minutes and they make great hot packs. Mama has always used hers to heat the bottom of her bed. This time, I also made a casing for it so it could be washed. I’m hoping to turn out several more of these for Christmas presents this year!
Along those lines, I also made for her a Victorian Soap Sack. I’m going to request permission for the pattern today and try and post it here tomorrow with a link to the site location so that if you are interested, you can knit your own!
Prayer Requests:
The Lawrence’s daughter fell and broke her ankle on Thursday. She has had such a tough year. Please pray for her …she really needs restoration for her body.
I received this prayer request from Tanya… “please pray for my Uncle Cecil, his wife Faye(mom’s sister), his dd CJ, his mom, Faye’s dd Chelle….Cecil was in a bike crash today. He is in ICU at UAB…on a vent.” Things are so rough for this family right now. Please pray for all involved. This bike accident was really serious.
My Grandmother fell yesterday (Mother’s Day), and broke her foot. This is a major issue for my family right now as my Grandmother could barely walk as it was. I’m hoping that my family can re-group today and figure out a plan for her care.
Our week…we’ve got so much that needs to be done. It seems like Paul’s business is beginning to pick up momentum…we just don’t want to get ran over by it! : )
Today, I’m Thankful For:
My Grandmother’s fall not being more serious!
My sweet children. I feel so blessed to be loved my such special people in this world.
The time that I got to spend with my Mom yesterday.
My Mom winning 1st prize in the art show that she entered on Saturday!
The tablecloths that I found on clearance at Walmart a couple of weeks ago. I kept one whole for the table and so far, I’ve been able to cut over 40 matching cloth napkins out of the others!
—I can’t remember if I mentioned this last week or not. I found tablecloths on clearance at Walmart for $1.00 a piece! As many of you know, we are trying to cut every penny that we can out of our grocery budget so the switch to cloth napkins was one of our first thoughts. This sale allowed me to get really nice fabric for them for less than I would have been able to purchase them in the fabric department! God is so good!
Tracy’s Task:
Today, believe it or not, I’m starting my Christmas list. On most years, I’m almost complete with my Christmas purchases by October. This has not been the case in the last couple of years because we’ve financially been unable to do so, but take it from me…it’s so much less holiday stress if you can get it done early. At this point, I’m going to focus on my homemade gifts. I would like to have the list complete of all the homemade gifts that I need to have made for this year so that I can start watching for supply sales.
What I’m Learning:
I completed my first braided rug this last week! I was so excited. My girls are trying to work on redecorating their bedroom and this was a great addition.
I am surprised by nothing. I’ve now potty trained 6 children. Why is it on the seventh, I must face an even newer challenge? Many of you know that I detest potty training but as if that is not enough, little Benjamin, now having grasped the concept of control when using the restroom has been caught more than once, more than twice, yes, more than three times this week pulling down his drawers WHEREVER he is and just going. It doesn’t matter what room, what’s in front of him or who he is sharing a room with. He then comes to me wanting to know if he can have a sticker since he “went potty”. Hmmmmmm, I think we’ve missed a step somewhere.
Today’s Scripture Meditation:
Ps 119:133-135
“Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me. Redeem me from the oppression of men, that I may obey your precepts. Make your face shine upon your servant and teach me your decrees.”
(NIV)
