There are probably almost as many sweet potato casserole recipes as people…everyone has their favorite! At our home, we prefer sweet potato casserole with a pecan topping rather than coconut or marshmallows (my Grandmother’s favorite!).
This is a simple recipe, and just in time for Thanksgiving preparation!
Sweet Potato Casserole
- 3c Mashed sweet potatoes
- 1c sugar
- 1t vanilla
- 1/2c milk
- 1/4c butter
Topping
- 1c brown sugar
- 1/3c butter
- 1/3c flour
- 1c chopped nuts
Mix the first 5 ingredients and put in buttered baking dish. Mix topping ingredients, then sprinkle over the top. Bake at 350^ for 30 minutes or until bubbly.
My family loves sweet potatoes and butternut squash and pumpkin. This recipe sounds like my mom’s, which I love too. Great fall side dish!
