10 Cent Notebooks

Fridays are always so nice to me. They are the wind-down day to a sometimes very long week.

I’m looking forward today to getting to some sewing projects that I’ve waited all week to have time to work! I’ll post pictures as I finish them!

Today’s picture is one of the latest pics from our deck of one of our sunflowers. These plants are so beautiful to watch growing. We have learned so much this summer and enjoyed watching them….I think it’s because they are so big, there is literally something new to look at each day!

I found a great buy at our local Wal-Mart last night. It’s back to school time and they are running a special in their office/school supply section on one subject notebooks for 10 cents a piece!! I couldn’t believe it! I bought 70 of them. I know that this sounds like way too many notebooks for anyone to use but last year I purchased 50 packages of loose leaf paper for our school year and they were gone before December. Maybe these will hang around a little longer.

It’s going to be a short posting today…we’ve just got lots to do and I need to get to work!!

Prayer Requests

Paul had a horrible headache last night. Please pray that he will feel better today and have a good day at work.

This is my Mom’s last day of her vacation. Pray that she will get the things done that she is wanting to finish.

Today I’m Thankful For

Running into an old friend, Susan, last night at Walmart. I told Paul as we walked away that I always enjoy chatting with her.

Rain yesterday!!

Finding great materials for the sewing projects that I’m wanting to work on today.

The coming weekend.

The coming weekend. (No, this is not a typo!!)

Tracy’s Task

Today, one of the projects that I’m working on is a Waldorf doll for someone we know that is expecting.

Just a little history, Waldorf dolls are known for being all natural, wonderful baby dolls. There are no plastic pieces, no batteries, no big store displays…just a sweet, natural fiber, handmade baby for little ones.

I’ve looked at these dolls and thought about making them for quite some time….today, I’m going to dive in a take a shot.

What I’m Learning

It never fails that one outing leaves me astounded by the things that I’m seeing women walking around in these days. It is almost like common sense has totally been thrown out the window. We’re not talking about whether or not women should wear dresses or pants or whether dresses should fall below the knee. No, we go on a step further now.

As I was standing in the Walmart Supercenter check out line last night, I noticed the woman in front of me. Obviously, just from the gym, or tennis court or where ever she came from, she was dressed in a very short skirt, common I guess, for tennis courts across America. This was no surprise….. but then she turned around. I immediately turned my head. I felt so sorry for the elderly gentleman who was obviously embarrassed by this…he kept his face turned down the whole time she was in his line.

Along with her little skirt, she was wearing a white, way too tight, tank top that you could see right through. I couldn’t believe that she was wearing this outfit out in public….what has happened to our society that there are no rules for decency anymore? Even this morning it makes me a little sick to think about.

It is such an evil world. I remember a time when most women would have never have thought about wearing such things into public and if they had, would have been subject to laws governing public decency.

It pains me to see a mother buying her daughter a string bikini, or a Grandmother who purchases lace up jeans for her 12 year old Grand-daughter because she’s got “the body to wear it” and she thinks she should.

I get so discouraged by the decisions that seem to be so widespread these days. My husband is always quick to remind me of the following Scripture. It should make us pause….

Today’s Scripture Meditation

Isa 5:20-24

“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight. Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine and champions at mixing drinks, who acquit the guilty for a bribe, but deny justice to the innocent. Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the LORD Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel.”

(NIV)

2 Tim 3:1-7
“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God–having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.”
(NIV)
