Mosaics, Day 2

Day 2 of Mosaics….I took the day off yesterday! LOL!

Today, we are going to apply grout.

Please do not attempt to apply grout until your adhesive is thoroughly dry.

This can, and does take some muscle! This is Jessica’s project, but I do have to help at least enough to make sure that the grout makes it down in between each of the little stones. You want to apply enough grout until it is smooth and level with the tiled surface.

Let grout set for approximately 20 minutes and then using a damp cloth, wipe off excess grout.

Once the grout has dried, polish and shine each tile (or in our case, stone) until you wipe away grout residue.

Pictured, is Jessica’s finished project! She is so proud of her work!

As always, I like to learn craft projects that can be applied in a variety of different ways so in the coming weeks, I’ll try to show some additional mosaic projects.

Today, we are also working away at Jessica’s dresses and yes, I still have bloomers and pantaloons to STILL finish. Maybe today!

We also have all the additional stuff…homeschooling, cleaning, etc.

This morning, I have been thinking on all of the things that Mothers do in a home. It is easy to get so wrapped up in the daily maintenance of your home that you forget that your daily actions have eternal consequences. Every dish, every piece of laundry, every bed made, every tear wiped, every encouraging word are all things, important things, that build the kingdom of God. What an awesome responsibility it is to be a mom!

Prayer Requests:

The Buetow family is having auto troubles, their van is just not working properly. This is their main source of transportation right now so please remember them!

Today and tomorrow Paul again has meeting in the area that I would appreciate prayer over.

The Martin family has had some illness….please pray that it does not make the rounds through their home!

Today, I’m thankful for:

Finishing another pair of bloomers!!

The work that I have gotten done on Jessica’s dresses.

A wonderful anniversary! (Thank you to all who sent us good wishes yesterday!) —Minus getting pulled over by the police last night with my husband…but, I guess this is a story for another time!

Kacy Buetow is feeling better.

It looks like we may be getting our van back a little sooner than expected. That would be a great blessing!

What I’m Learning:

Bruster’s makes THE MOST AWESOME hot fudge brownie sundae thing. If you haven’t tried one, it’s a must have but take a friend. It’s impossible to finish one of these by yourself, and if you do you’ll be miserable!

That I’m going to have to eventually lose my television. As if the television shows aren’t full of enough trash, the commercials will make you stop dead in your tracks. I’ve never seen so much garbage as can be seen just in the commercial segments of prime time programming. I hope that Hollywood wakes up at some point. I know that I’m not alone. I’m sick of turning on my television and being bombarded either by vulgar language or a bunch of undressed people walking around!

While I’m on my soapbox….let’s not forget to mention Walmart. I was visiting another website a couple of days ago that mentioned Walmart’s growing tendency toward less than family values. Whether it’s the music and videos being played all over the store, some woman in her underclothes printed across a huge sign hanging from the ceiling, or just the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue right on eye level with my children when we go through the check out…I’m extremely disappointed.

Today’s Scripture Meditation:

Rom 13:11-14

“And do this, understanding the present time. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.
The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.
Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy.
Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature.”
