Alabama Church Fires- Revisited

Tracy / February 15, 2006

Today is Wednesday. We are still trying to rearrange our home and make it a little more organized and easy for us! It’s one of those things where you have to make a mess to get it clean you know?

I have a praise, our friends the Greenlaw family received good news about their sweet little daughter yesterday. Apparently, right now she will not need surgery to remove the cyst from her brain. They are going to continue to watch it and she is supposed to have another MRI done in three years. God is so good!

I’m still plugging away at the book I’ve been working on. My working title is “Where The Heart Is.” I’m pretty excited about the project and hope that it won’t take too long to finish…I’m already working on our other two websites so sometimes it gets a little hairy trying to fit it all in!

Let’s see, things that I’ve learned this week (so far):

Brown rice flour can make some tolerable biscuits at breakfast time (Thank you, to my eldest, for trying to make me a special breakfast!) it also makes pretty good oven fried chicken. The rice makes the crust on the chicken really crunchy and yummy!!

If you’ve not yet used Walmart’s Portrait Studio it’s a great deal. Yesterday, I took my son to have his portrait made for his birthday.

For $3.88 we received, 1 10×13, a couple of 8×10’s, some 5×7’s and wallets. No sitting fee! For a total of $4.19, I received all of the above pictures. Not bad at all for school pictures!

An update on the church burnings in Alabama. I spoke with someone I know, who used to attend church at Ashby and still has many friends who attend. She said that they are of course sad that their church building is gone but are encouraged and excited that the Lord must have something else for them. PTL! He does give us peace even in the worst of times! I happen to know a secret I hope that many of you do as well.

Leviticus 26:6
says:
” I will grant peace in the land, and you will lie down and no one will make you afraid. I will remove savage beasts from the land, and the sword will not pass through your country.”

Are you ready to know the secret? Believers know how the story ends! There is nothing that God has not already taught us in the Bible. They can burn our churches. They can say that we’re crazy and that we are judgmental. They can tell us that we are raising our children to be closed minded and sheltering them to the point that they will not be able to function in society. They can say that marriage is not solely for a man and his wife but “open relationships” are much better. They can chip away at every belief we have, tear down our places of worship and try and make us look and feel like we are nothing…but we know the secret.

Take the time today to pray to the Lord and thank him for allowing you to know the truth.

Today I’m thankful for:

  • Cool weather. I love the cold but this week is perfect, almost spring like temperatures!
  • My husband who works so hard to provide for our family.
  • A good report on my two youngest children from the pediatrician yesterday.
  • The will power to stay on my eating plan so that I can be healthier for my family and myself.
  • God’s provision in continuing to teach me new skills so that I can provide quality items for my family and friends for a fraction of the cost! (Ask me about handmade, knitted washcloths!)
