Did you spend childhood days playing in the rain?

Some of my favorite memories from my days as a girl, are of rainy, summer days.

The children ran in yesterday afternoon asking if they might stay out and play. The rain had just began to fall.

I said “sure“. You’ve never heard a more excited group.

Over the next few moments, the rain began to fall harder and harder. Still no lightening or thunder, but what a rainstorm!

When one of my older children walked in to ask if I knew the littles were in the backyard soaking wet, Paul looked over and said “what?”— I hid my face knowing that the whole thing was about to be traced back to me.

Thankfully, he didn’t mind…as usual, at hearing something crazy from me, he just shook his head.

children almost dry…

In the end, the kiddos were thrilled and exhausted having made summer memories of their own.

I’ve always loved the rain.

Have you ever stopped to notice how bright green and beautiful the trees are outside after a summer rain?

The water washes away all the dust and dirt…the colors become their natural, vibrant selves…it’s just beautiful.

It’s these little things what we forget, after time, to take notice of- but, how blessed we are if we stop to appreciate all these little things.

It was a good weekend.

We received some test scores we were waiting on for Courtney and Joshua. It was good news for them- both tested in the upper percentiles.

We’re excited and this means their highschool years are drawing to a close, and they are ready to move onto other things.

These two little ones are grown.

Unbelievable.

In the coming weeks, many of you will receive graduation announcements and an invitation to come and celebrate with our family.

We hope you will be available to celebrate with our family!

Today’s Scripture Meditation

“Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household…”– Ephesians 2:19

With my love,

  1. I love thunderstorms and watching it rain as long as I don’t have to drive in it.

Growing up in Oregon, it rained A LOT. I remember a couple of summer evening rain storms where we went out and rode bikes through the puddles in the rain. We loved it!
