Our Latest Journey

Mama taking the barium for her CT scan Certainly not the yummiest thing, but she managed to drink it. Yuck. Pictures of the beautiful aquarium at the cancer center. It is positioned in the middle of the waiting area….it’s such a beautiful thing to watch these fish as you wait.

My Mama- Update

“But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the…

This has been the hardest couple of days to date. Yesterday, facing the doctor appointment later in the day, I drove Mom to see my grandmother.  She asked if we might stop by her favorite donut shop on the way- it was a fun, and delicious diversion. When we arrived, I was so happy to see my uncle waiting for…

So many things happening and yet there is joy. It’s hard to explain– how can we cry and still have joy? Only with Him. May my God be glorified.

Today, my mom allowed us to go and work on her front yard.  She visited with my grandmother while we trimmed, cut, cleaned and raked.  We got a lot done, but there is still a lot more than needs to be done.  I am so thankful she allowed us to help. Afterward, we met her back at my grandmother’s nursing…

I. Must. Buy. Groceries. I am more than a week late.  I looked over our empty pantry shelves last evening and realized I can’t put it off another day. It seems like these little things should wait…in reality, this isn’t little at all and in spite of my mama’s illness, life does press forward. Today, I felt postive when we…

Mama has not felt good today. She has slept on an off through the day. When she’s been awake, she’s talked more to me about how she needs to pay her house and car off.  She actually seems excited that this might allow her to retire early.  We’ve discussed her staying here while she is going through chemo treatments. She…

I’m forever amazed how the Lord meets each of our needs. I had pretty much resolved myself to not seeing Paul until some time next week. I’m not going to say I was handling it well, just resolved. I was on the phone with a friend, when I looked up and saw a man in my driveway. Being because I…

Today has been so hard. My mama called her work and talked to them about short term disablity.  It seems this process is going to be easy but means a cut in pay.  She has told me she’s pretty concerned about making medical payments.  I’m not sure how much cancer treatments are, nor how much insurance pays.  If it’s anything…

Mama is feeling well enough to be out today. She asked if I would take her shopping for a while. She is doing great out-  I can tell she is more tired than usual but seems to be happy to be out and moving around. The doctor called while we were in the store.  He confirmed what he originally thought-…

Mama has been feeling pretty bad all day.  She taken some motrin and remains on the percoset the doctor prescribed, but only at bedtime. She asked if I might take her out for a while tomorrow so she can get out of the house.  A little later, she said she didn’t know if she would feel like it but it…

2 Corinthians 10:4-5(NIV) “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” I will take my thoughts captive to…
