Turkey Update

I did a big “”no-no””. I named the family turkeys. Meet Burt and Ernie: I just couldn’t help it…they are so cute in a really ugly sort of way, you know? They follow me around the yard like favored pets- what will I do when Thanksgiving rolls around?

Tracy / August 22, 2006

Sorry for the delay in posting this morning…our internet has been on and off following the storms that rolled through our area last night. We really needed the rain, I’m so thankful for it. Some of our little plants look like they took a beating last evening. I’m hoping they’ll perk up as the day goes on. Today, I’m going…

August, Already?

August already? Does anyone else ever seem to be taken off guard by the passing of time? Where do the days go? I wake up, and before I can blink the day is over. It’s incredible, and humbling, to know that I only have so many days and they pass so quickly. I was so thankful we finished yesterday’s projects…

Water Restrictions!

Just when my little plants were showing promise, the city came around and announced mandatory water restrictions. At present, being an odd numbered house, we are only allowed to water our garden for two hours on Tuesday and Thursday. It seems that two of the wells for the city system we are on, failed this year and they are having…

I figured that I should get a head start. We learned something pretty great yesterday from the Shepherd’s blog…visit: http://www.visionforum.com/hottopics/multimedia/enn/ It’s Vision Forum’s “Everyday News Network“. They already have some wonderful little news…

The Dynamic Duo Strikes Again

We were busy until late in the night working on preparing squash and more strawberries for the freezer! We ended up with 8 gallon size bags of squash and 3 gallon size bags of strawberries…we’re so excited! This is the time to stock those freezers with fresh veggies and we’re well on our way. If you’ve never tried stocking frozen…

More Herbs!

I woke up excited this morning! Last evening we went to the store and purchased all the supplies for our first 4 foot by 4 foot garden. Paul is going to assemble my frame this evening and then the fun begins. Maybe I’ll share pictures a little later. Last evening, I also purchased lemon thyme and oregano. In my community,…

Are You Thankful?

Mom came out yesterday with her newest painting! This one, is her very first done with acrylics on canvas (she’s always painted with watercolors on watercolor paper). I’m always so proud of her art…I was grown and had children of my own before she unveiled this talent!! This has been a LONG week. There has been so much going on….I…

Mom’s Soap Sack

This is the soap sack that I made for my Mom for Mother’s Day. I thought this was one of the most nifty ideas…it’s a drawstring bag perfect for little slivers of soap. You can actually lather through it and the drawstring is long enough to hang over the shower head! My Mom loved it! I’m grateful to Darlene who…

Our Little Visitor

We had this little visitor today. He stopped by to watch Courtney hang our laundry…I wanted to post this, so our regularly scheduled laundry pic will have to wait until tomorrow. I find God in so many things around me. I’m not someone who enjoys these things very close to me….definitely not in my home (ask me how I know)…..but,…

Clothesline, Day 2

This is my clothesline, closed. To be making such an impact on my home keeping in general, it really isn’t that big. With that said, when we are on the land that we plan on having for the rest of our lives, I would like to have iron T-bars ran, stretching the span of a good distance so that I…

Clothesline, Day 1

This is a picture of my laundry line. I had been asked by someone if I could post a picture. It isn’t much, but man it does a great job! It looks so small…the box says that it can hold three loads of laundry, but I’ve found that it actually holds quite a bit more. It’s been great. I can’t…
