NKJV Color Code Bible

Tracy / August 23, 2016

This month, I received the NKJV Color Code Bible for review through the Tommy Mommies program!

This was a different review for me- while I liked many parts and features of this Bible, there were some that didn’t make sense to me, at all.

The parts I liked- the color coded sections are very similar to the coding I do for Bible study with my Good Morning Girls group. It has been an effective method of Bible study for me and I believe it would also be helpful for my children.

I also liked the general information on Bibles and Bible study in the front of the book.

The Bible is colorful visually. The print is large enough to be easily read (I’ve never understood why so many children’s Bibles have such small print!).

I didn’t understand the “Bible Journaling” section in the back, AT ALL.

There is a very fine line in making Christianity understandable for children and remembering that the Bible is a holy book.

The back sections of the NKJV Color Code Bible make it seem like “just another book”. While there is a page for prayer requests and Bible notes, there are also options for favorite pets, foods, television shows and movies.

They just don’t seem to fit. In my opinion, these would have been best left out.

Features of the NKJV Color Code Bible:

  • Hardback
  • Satin Ribbon bookmark for place holding
  • “What is the Bible?” section explaining exactly what a Bible is, and how it is broken out by chapters. It explains the Old Testament and the New Testament. It breaks each into the books of law, history, poetry, prophecy, gospels, history, and letters.
  • Explanation of the different sections of the Bible
  • Why should you read the Bible
  • An explanation of the Color Coding in this publishing of the Bible
  • Why did God send us the Bible?
  • There is an explanation about the New King James Version of the Bible
  • A suggested reading plan
  • 365 Topical Scripture Readings
  • A color coded Scripture index
  • Full color maps in the back
  • 2 pages for notes (this seemed impractical for real Bible notes- maybe it could be used for some other type of notetaking?)
  • Pages for recording Prayer Requests (again, this seemed impractical for real, long-term use because of space limitations)
  • Place in the back for recording your favorite games, movies, TV shows, pets, and foods (I’m really not sure why these pages are in this Bible. I’ve never thought my Bible as a place for recording these types of things.)
  • Pages for recording favorite Bible stories, hymns and songs and Bible verses
  • Pages for recording information about your family

“The New King James Version Color Code Bible for kids in full color

With full NKJV text and bright colors throughout, the Color Code Bible highlights more than 1,600 passages to show kids key Bible verses about important topics.

As the first Bible of its kind just for kids, the Color Code Bible uses a simple method that relates to how children learn. Seven topics are arranged by color to teach kids foundational Scripture concepts and encourage them to apply God’s Word to their daily faith walk:

Gold: God
Navy: sin, evil
Red: Jesus
Orange: washed clean from sin, new life
Green: growth in your new life as a Christian and your faith walk
Blue: prayer, praise
Purple: heaven

A 62-page section explains the color-coding system as well as other expanded study help features especially for a child’s creative and imaginative mind. Also included is a “My Bible Journal” section for kids to record prayers, favorite verses, and much more.”

  1. This would be a great first bible for my son. We use a John MacArthur study bible for our morning devotions and would love it if he could follow along in his own bible. He also wants to bring his own bible to church so he can follow along there too.

My favorite part is the fact that this color coded bible has a section that explains what the bible is, why we should read it, and things like that. Honestly, I’d like to read that part for myself. 😛 The explanation of the NKJV sounds like a great read! Thank you for the opportunity to enter this give away. 😘
