Book Review: The Unveiled Wife

For a number of years, I have been researching safe make-up/skin care and hair care options. There are so many nasty chemicals in everything we use.

Have any of you done research into your own beauty products? We’ve started using coconut oil as a moisturizer and to remove make-up. Other products are more difficult. Cosmetic companies make claims, but you and I both know how accurate those can be!

The Unveiled Wife: Embracing Intimacy with God and Your Husbandis a book that was unexpected. When it popped up in my books for review this month, I assumed it was a typical book on marriage and intimacy. I was looking forward to reading it, but I guess I was just expecting something different.

This is the story of a young woman named Jennifer, and her marriage.

From the back of the book:

As a young bride, Jennifer Smith dreamed of closeness with her husband—of being fully known and loved. But their early years together were marked by disappointment and pain. What am I doing wrong? Jennifer cried out to God. It was as if a veil separated Jennifer from her husband and from God- a barrier that kept her from experiencing the fullness of love.

How did Jennifer’s marriage survive? What did she and her husband do when they were tempted to call it quits? And how did God step in during their darkest hour to tear down the veil once and for all?

The Unveiled Wife is a real-life love story, one touching the deep places in a marriage that only God can reach. If you are feeling disappointment or even despair in your marriage, the heart cry of this book is. You are not alone. Join Jennifer to learn how God can remove your own veil and lovingly guide you to a place of spiritual transformation, true intimacy and lasting joy.

Jennifer shares her testimony of God’s faithfulness in the most sensitive of areas. In the end, her relationship with the Lord grew stronger as He revealed Himself in her life and healed her heart.

Jennifer’s story is one of faith and perseverance. She has a casual writing style that was “real” on a subject that would have been difficult for most women to discuss. There are too many women having issues just like these who suffer in silence.

I can’t help but think this book will be a real help to many women. For me, it’s strengthened my resolve to re-examine our personal care items and find those without dangerous chemicals. We just don’t fully know how they change our bodies.

I was given a copy of this book by the publisher in exchange for a review. I was not required to write a positive review of this book.

  1. I use a mix of coconut oil and raw shea butter (1:3, I think!) blended with tea tree, lavender, and frankincense. My whole fam LOVES it! My pores are noticeably smaller and cleaner. I’m not claiming it’s any kind of miracle, I still have bigger pores than I’d like, but my skin is better, as are my nails. I tried mixing it with carrot seed oil because that’s supposed to be good for your face, but it made my face too dry. If you have a problem with overly oily skin, I bet the carrot seed would be good though.

  2. I saw this book on one of my feeds and started listening to a dialog by the author and a friend of hers. The title threw me for a loop, because I was expecting it to be about the prayer covering veil – – – anyways, I was trying to figure out how you went from safe skin care & make up to husband / wife relationships . . . I guess I need to read the book to find out? I use coconut oil for pulling (it gets me rave reviews at the dentist!), I make my own foundation, and I have the ingredients to make my blush, but haven’t done it yet.

  3. Thank you for sharing such a kind review and for bringing up the aspect of healthy living through personal care products! I was adamant about sharing that part of our story as I am sure the industry is affecting a large percentage of people!

Barbara You will have to read it!!
