Sentry

Tracy / January 6, 2014

Sometimes I write here, not so much for those of you keeping up with our family, but more just so I don’t forget a moment that is important for me.

The first of the year (2014), has brought closure to an item, or two, which has followed me through the last year. Though it was painful, it wasn’t something I was thinking on each day- more that it would pop up every few weeks.

After all that I experienced in the earlier part of the year, it almost seemed like too much to take sometimes.

I decided that January 1 would be the finish line. It would the place where resolution would come, and I would just stop trying so hard to fix it all- it would mean a new beginning.

Each time this past week I have thought on it, I would stop and pray and give it back to the Lord, (knowing He already knows).

In any case, last night I had a dream about the whole situation. It shook me so that I awoke and couldn’t even speak about it for some time. Paul noticed I was crying and wanted to know why. I’m always so thankful for his patience. Sometimes, I don’t even know how to voice what it is that has happened (that, by the way, never happened before this last year).  When I was able to tell him, he was comforting, (as always).

The one thing that really stands out was the feeling the Lord was showing me I am a sentry.

I knew this was a military term, but I wasn’t sure what exactly, it meant.

The Dictionary.com definition:

sentry
Use Sentry in a sentence
sen·try
[sen-tree] Show IPA
noun, plural sen·tries.
1.
a soldier stationed at a place to stand guard and prevent the passage of unauthorized persons, watch for fires, etc., especially a sentinel stationed at a pass, gate, opening in a defense work, or the like.
2.
a member of a guard or watch.

Hmmm…in many ways, I have always seen myself watching over my home and my family.  I’m just not sure it was in this context.  It was a fascinating dream and something I will ponder for some time.

If you will please be praying for me, this is really an unspoken request.  My prayer this entire last year has been for peace.  I’m not sure this is exactly what is needed, but the Lord does know.

Thank you, friends!

  1. Peace is exactly one of the things I have been praying for you. Will continue to pray that God will truly bring that, and you’ll feel a resolution for all that is burdening your heart right now. I admire so much your sensitivity to the Lord’s direction in your life and your strong faith. I know He will honor that and bless you and your family.
