Time for this week’s installment from 4 Moms, 35 Kids….
Today, we’re sharing the second half of the bedroom posts for 4 Moms, 35 Kids–
Since we moved into this house, we really haven’t done a lot with our bedrooms (trust me, we’ve had enough to keep us busy in other rooms.! )
The girl’s room is beautiful, but dark. For the short term, we would like to paint the paneling.
Emma and Jon both sleep on trundles their Papa made (when they don’t crawl into bed with someone else, LOL). They are on wheels and easy for them to pull out from under the bunk beds. They are made to fit a crib mattress.
The big boys share a room with the office. I can’t explain how long this room is, but it’s odd, to say the least. It would easily fit two queen size beds with dressers, etc. Our very next project is to finish out one of the rooms in the basement for these boys. This room will become our pantry/laundry area.

SO much work moving into a new house and making it work for your needs. You have done a great job. Your kids’ rooms are great and I love those trundles! I’d paint that paneling in a heartbeat! Lisa~
Thank you, Lisa! I value your opinion! The girl’s was actually brighter at one point. We’re not sure why, but they paneled over a window that was on the other side of the room. It would have allowed much more light. When we’re ready to paint, we’re bringing that window back! I think that will make a huge difference.
Wow, trundle beds with crib mattresses that is a marvelous idea, wish there was a handy man carpenter in my family.
Those trundles are great! We just painted a bunch of paneling in this house and you wouldn’t believe the difference! It brightened the place right up!
You may already know this being the do-it-yourselfers that you are but when painting paneling, be sure and primer well with Bulls Eye 123 before painting. The type of paneling will determine how many coats you’ll need. I was scared to do ours but it was really very easy and turned out beautifully!

Moving is such work. I never thought I could ‘do’ a trundle, but my son pulls a mattress out from his sisters’ bed every night, so we’re basically doing it. Such a great use of space, isn’t it? Oooh, I would love a walk in pantry/laundry area. That will be GREAT!
Oh, forgot to mention, I painted paneling in our first home. It was a lot of work, but well worth it. I actually primed, then textured, then painted. We were really happy with it.
